Parks
Shandon has two neighborhood parks: Emily Douglas Park and Sims Park. Emily Douglas Park is located at the corner of Wheat and King. Emily Douglas Park has an amphitheater, state-of-the-art playground equipment, a wide lawn, and a dog park.

Bob Coble Bench at Sims ParkSims Park is located at the corner of Duncan and Bonham Street. Sims Park has a basketball court, covered picnic areas, and playground equipment. The park also features a marble bench dedicated to the long-time mayor of Columbia, Bob Coble.
Both parks have after-school and other programs and if you have a computer and internet service, they are now both Wi-Fi zones.

Shandon residents have access to many shops and grocery stores within walking and biking distance. There are also several merchants along Devine Street.
There are two grocery stores located in the boundaries of Shandon: Earthfare and Rosewood Market.
